Spring Is Finally Here!

Spring is now in full force here in the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge area. It is literally a breath of fresh air after a long, snowy winter!

Many of the wild flowers are in bloom as well as blackberries and honeysuckle.

The rains of April and May provided the catalyst for a nice crop of morels to pop up. We like to call them dry land fish here in the mountains as they taste a lot like fish when fried. I found 650 of them this year - my wife and I ate most of them ourselves. Well, they only come around a few weeks each year so we enjoy them while we can!

We have got our garden planted and look forward to enoying such goodies as beans, cabbage, corn, cucumbers, onions, spinach, potatoes, lettuce, carrots, zucchini, jalapeno peppers and bell peppers. Once the spring rains become less frequent and the sun shines more, the crops will really start growing.

For all those coming to the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge area this Spring, be safe and enjoy all of the beauty!
